Redefining Genius
I got this idea about celebrating neurodiversity, especially people with autism. I really wanted to show that people can be different, but it's okay. This is how I came up with Beanpole Bert.
Beanpole Bert is like a messenger. He's all about challenging the usual idea of being super smart. His story is all about how being really clever or a genius can be different for each person, and autism is a special part of that. Beanpole Bert is all about celebrating how it's perfectly fine to be unique and how people with autism can do amazing things. Bert's not just about himself; he's about all the people out there who are like him. It's about saying that being different is something to be proud of, and it's absolutely okay to be your very own kind of genius.
Through my characters I want to keep sharing this message with everyone. We want to create a world where being different is celebrated, and where we value each person's special journey.
